Cookie Policy
Velysaro uses very few cookies. This page lists each one, what it does, and how to switch analytics on or off.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website places in your browser so that it can recognise the browser on the next request. Browsers also offer localStorage, a place where a site can keep a value between visits without sending it with every request. This policy covers both, and any similar technology we use on velysaro.com and in the Velysaro application.
Nothing until you say so
We use PostHog to understand how the site and the product are used. Out of the box PostHog would set cookies on the first page view. We have configured it differently: until you opt in it runs in a cookieless mode, keeps no persistent identifier for your browser, and sends only page and event data that cannot be linked to you across visits.
When you accept analytics in the cookie banner, PostHog starts using cookies and localStorage so that a visit can be understood as a session and a returning browser can be recognised. When you decline, analytics stops altogether: the identifier held in memory is dropped and the library is not loaded on your next visit. If you say nothing, it stays cookieless. In every case session recording is not enabled: we do not record what you type, click or see.
What we use
| Category | Names | Purpose | Storage and duration | Consent |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | session cookie, CSRF token | Keeps you signed in between requests and protects forms and API calls against cross-site request forgery. Without these the product cannot work. | Cookies, set by velysaro.com. The session cookie lasts for the session or until you sign out; the CSRF token for the session. | Not required |
| Preferences | velysaro.consent, velysaro_locale | Remembers the choice you made in the cookie banner so we do not ask again, and so analytics knows whether it may set cookies. It also remembers the language you picked for this site. | velysaro.consent: localStorage in your browser, kept until you clear site data or change your choice. velysaro_locale: a cookie set by velysaro.com for one year, so the site opens in your language when you come back. | Not required |
| Analytics | ph_*, distinct_id | Lets PostHog link the pages you visit into a session and recognise a returning browser, so we can see which parts of the site and product are used. Session recording is not enabled. | Cookies and localStorage set by the PostHog library, only after you opt in. PostHog cookies last up to one year. | Opt-in |
Paddle, which handles checkout, may set its own cookies inside the checkout window under its own cookie policy. We do not use any advertising, retargeting or social-media cookies.
Making and changing your choice
The first time you visit, the cookie banner asks whether analytics may use cookies. Your answer is stored in your browser's localStorage under the key velysaro.consent; it is not sent to us as personal data and it is what the analytics library reads to decide whether it may set cookies.
You can change your choice at any time, right here:
Two other ways work as well:
- Clear site data for velysaro.com in your browser's settings. This removes
velysaro.consentand any PostHog cookies, and the banner will ask again on your next visit. - Block cookies for velysaro.com in your browser. Signing in needs the session cookie, so the product will not work, but the public site will.
Withdrawing consent stops analytics, removes the identifier from your browser and prevents new analytics cookies from being set. Data already collected while you were opted in is kept as described in the Privacy Policy.
Third parties
PostHog processes analytics data on our behalf as a processor. Which data that is, where it is stored and for how long is described in the Privacy Policy. No other third party sets cookies on velysaro.com outside the Paddle checkout window.
Changes
If we add a cookie or change what one does, we will update the table above and the date at the foot of this page. A change that requires new consent will be put to you again in the banner.
